Membership Benefits
-
The MARE board of directors (our policy makers) are from school districts in rural Missouri and deal with the same or similar problems that rural schools deal with on a daily basis.
-
MARE is committed to the idea that it is a SERVICE ORGANIZATION, dedicated to the policy of providing services to our member schools.
-
Rather than employ a large office staff, MARE contracts for services such as board policy manuals, legal advice, financial assistance, preparation of board member training materials, administrative search, etc.
-
MARE has served as the not-for-profit corporation for a large number of capital facilities lease financing's.
-
MARE supports a SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, providing five $1,000 scholarships each year to education majors with a stated intent to teach in rural Missouri School Districts. The Scholarship is only available to those attending a Missouri College or University.
-
MARE sponsors an annual conference, which provides numerous workshops featuring current topics of interest to the rural education community. The conference is held at the Holiday Inn, Lake Ozarks, Missouri on the last weekend in February. The Annual Conference has a very reasonable registration fee of which 50% of the fee is used to pay for meals and receptions. the room rates are also very reasonable with ample parking.
-
The MARE school board training program has two major advantages for rural Missouri schools:
50-75% of the program time is spent in discussion on specific policies and needs for your own school district
The training program is scheduled at a time and place convenient to the individual needs, thus avoiding a conflict with the board members work schedule.
-
Compared to similar service organizations, the cost for membership is very reasonable. Membership is not based on enrollment or budget. A school district membership includes all instructional staff, administrators, board members, support staff, and students.
